Johnstone's Paint Trophy

Tonight is the turn of the lower league cup, currently called the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

There are a couple of matches of interest tonight, the main one of interest being MK Dons at Bournemouth. MK are a strong team and quite deservedly favourites to win League 2, they've a very good away record and will be looking to progress against a Bournemouth side who sit 3rd bottom in League 1 with no home wins and if reports are to be believed missing up to 7 key players. They struggled to find 11 players for their draw with non-league Barrow on Saturday, I backed Barrow on this blog to small stakes and they were unlucky not to win. I'm taking MK to go one better and win tonight in one of my strongest bets of the season...

I'm also going pretty on Doncaster to beat Grimsby. Doncaster are Trophy holders and are doing well in League 1 looking for a play-off place, while Grimsby are struggling at the foot of League 2. Both teams are missing players, but Doncaster are much stronger, and with the away fans expected to possibly equal the home support this will be like a home match for them...

I've also gone for a small accumulator on Carlisle, Hartlepool, Leeds & Doncaster 1pt @ 6.39

Update: Doncaster are 1-1 so the 0-3 has gone, but MK Dons are 2 up after 20 minutes... I've layed at 1.13 for a profit of just over 6pts if they win, just over 5pts any other result.

Update: Doncaster 1-2 down now... I've thought back to cup shocks in England and if they can happen here why not abroad. Barcelona are 0-0 at lower league Alcoyano tonight in their 1st leg cup tie (after 15 minutes)... I've taken a speculative point that the minnows hold on @ 20

Update: Doncaster draw and it's a slight winning night so far, but with 15 minutes left in the MK Dons match I'm going for another bet... it's 0-2 and another goal looks pretty likely so I'm on overs:

A lesson in how not to bet... two extra bets turn the evening into a losing one, and bloody Barca only won 0-1 to cap it off!
